CNC Controlled Bonding Unit Established

For a short time Kunststofftechnik Paderborn has a fully automated bonding unit at it´s disposal. The unit is equipped with a conditioning cell and possesses a freely programmable CNC control unit. Furthermore a handling and clamping unit with definable pressure plus an automatic needle measurement are integrated. A highly precise gear pump unit to use for 1 component adhesives as well as a piston metering unit for 2 component adhesives enable exact metering and bonding with repeated accuracy. Piston metering unit and mixing tube can be heated up if necessary.

"Our staff are our best assets"

At the meeting of the network "Kunststoffe in OWL" about 100 polymer experts met at the Coko-Werk GmbH & Co. KG in Bad Salzuflen. COE Klaus-Wilhelm Dreskrüger told about innovations at the Bad Salzuflen site as well as in Poland and in Turkey. In Cerkezköy, near Istanbul, Coko started the production in its own factory building at the beginning of this year. 3.200 dish washers leave the production line every day. In Lodz, Poland, Coko manufactures technical polymer parts with about 250 employees in three shifts. Here too the activities are expanded with a second enameling line. In addition to that Coko plans to build a further production hall. Dreskrüger: "The competition in Poland and in Turkey is fierce and should be taken seriously. Many challenges await us in those two countries."

All-electric injection molding machine shall optimize processes

The polymer lab (K-Lab), application-oriented research laboratory of the polymer technicians and interface between university and companies has put into operation an all-electric injection molding machine made by Engel. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Elmar Moritzer, polymer technology, and the COE of the K-Lab, Dipl.-Ing. Rainer Kleeschulte are very happy about it. The “Engel E-Motion 200/100” is used for a third-party project in which polymer recipes shall be made more efficient. Moritzer: “Individual polymer products which are produced in increasingly less numbers call for individual polymer compounds.
